THE STYLE COCKTAIL|A DELICIOUS MIX OF BRANDED AND THRIFT.

Get in Shape with Canola Oil

Party season is approaching head on! And dressing up and festive food are the two things which are the most integral part.  But such an irony it is that dressing up and festive food are each other’s enemies.

To stay in shape for those sexy dresses you have to stay away from all those calorie laden delicious food. And if you are the one to devour the food no matter what, fitting into your hot & chic wardrobe is out of question.

But there’s still hope, Bloagadda’s event in association with Canola Council of Canada gave people like us a solution! The superfood here is Canola Oil.

Canola Oil has the least saturated fat of any common cooking oil. In fact, it has less than half the saturated fat of olive or soybean oil. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized canola oil's ability to reduce the risk of heart disease when used in place of saturated fat.

It is the healthiest oil option, so far!

Why a super oil??
• It can get very hot!
Can be heated to a higher temperature (468°F or 242°C) than other oils before it starts to smoke. This makes it ideal for high heat applications like sautéing and deep-frying.
• As light as it gets
The texture of the oil is very light which makes food more enjoyable and of course, healthy!

•
Can’t see, can’t smell, can’t tast
It has no colour or odour and is neutral in taste making it ideal for any type of cooking – specially Indian - by letting the flavours of the dish and ingredients shine through.

Meeting to talk about food, exchanging new recipes and trying new ones, is an opportunity not to be passed up! That is what happened at Four Seasons Mumbai recently when food, lifestyle and health bloggers, and journalists were invited to discuss food, its health aspects and emerging culinary trends. Also present for the interaction were Bruce Jowett, Vice President – Market Development, Canola Council of Canada, and experts in the field of health and nutrition.

The event had a recipe development competition where participants had created innovative and new recipes and submitted them prior to the event. Executive Chef at Westin Garden City, Mumbai and Ex Master Chef India Judge, Ajay Chopra chose the winning recipe by Pradnya, who won a hamper from the CanolaInfo. Chopra then tantalized the audiences’ taste buds with a live cooking demonstration of recipes which he then offered for sampling.  He recommends using canola oil and says, “It is known for its health and culinary benefits. The oil has a high smoke point at 242 degrees Celsius and a neutral flavor, which makes it ideal for Indian cuisine.”

Here are some clicks from the event! :)

So we can win over both, dresses and food! :)
